  • Students in the history of astrology face a minefield. The information presented in the published reference books is often heavily biased by what historians know as 'Whiggishness', a narrow belief in progress and the superiority of the west. This makes it vey difficult to deal with questions such as 'Did western astrology begin in Babylon or in Egypt?, 'Did the Greeks practice Babylonian astrology?', 'What happend to astrology in the 17th century?', and Was Jung an astrologer?' These are vital questions which affect modern astrologers when they attach themselves to a particular tradition. They are also the questions we have to be aware of before attempting research. Nick provides the conceptual tools we need to tackle the question of astrology's past.
